Director
Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist (APA titled)Recreational running physiotherapist (Special interest)
I really love to help people of all ages and stages move and feel better.
It gives me true joy to see my patients achieve their goals whether it's being able to walk around the block without back pain, run a Parkrun or return to kickboxing after a baby.
I love working through the entire process as a team as I truly believe that is how you achieve great things.
As a recreational runner I have done a lot of events from Parkrun through to international marathons and ultramarathons - rarely fast - usually finishing mid pack or towards the back. I have had injuries caused by poor form and poor choices. I really 'get' the recreational runner. I've combined my love of physiotherapy and evidence based therapy and that of running to help a huge number of people as a running physio in the Adelaide running community achieve their goals. I have also developed and regularly updated our highly popular term based program called RunFit.
Getting women back to running (and other exercise) after having a baby is an absolute passion. Having had 3 big babies I understand how hard it can be to get back to exercise. But I also know that exercise is absolutely essential for a new mum. As a women's health physiotherapist I completely understand how your body heals and recovers after a baby - regardless of delivery. I can tailor a program taking into consideration pelvic floor problems, breast feeding schedules and other children's demands.
As a highly qualified, skilled and experienced pelvic floor physiotherapist I help women and men with all problems associated with pelvic floor. That includes incontinence or urgency (bladder and bowel), prolapse or pelvic pain. I understand the impact of hormones and conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis. Male pelvic pain is so common yet not discussed - but help is available. I have the knowledge, the expertise and the empathy to help.
I work a couple of sessions a month at a specialist Colorectal clinic where I help women and men with their bowel function including managing long term constipation and incontinence.
Other interests include the teenage athlete - particularly girls. This is an important lifecycle stage and managed well it can set up our girls for an active and healthy life of exercise and well-being. I love to work with girls to help their bodies perform better without injury and to keep them in sport for longer.
I am a professional member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, and am on the State committee for the Men's Women's and Pelvic Health group. I am also a member of the Continence Foundation of Australia, the International Urogynecological Association, the Urogynaecological Society of Australia, Sports Physiotherapy Australia, and Sports Medicine Australia.
I have extensive post graduate qualifications in Continence and Women’s Health Physiotherapy including the award of ‘Titled’ from the Australian Physiotherapy Association (2012) - which officially recognises this expertise. I have also completed a Professional Certificate in the Conservative management of pelvic organ prolapse (UniSA) in 2019. I regularly attend courses and conference locally, nationally and internationally to keep up to date with the ever developing area of rehabilitation.
I have three school aged incredibly active children and spend most of my weekends with my husband in basketball stadiums (and/ or netball courts and/or football fields) around Adelaide. In my down time you can find me running out on the roads and trails around Adelaide as well as the local running events (5km Parkrun through to 56km Yurrebilla ultra-marathons). I have ran marathons in Australia, America, China and France and am always looking forward to my next adventure.
